Why Doctors Should Train In Aesthetics

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend courses?2025-08-18T21:51:08+11:00

Our aesthetic training courses are exclusively for registered health practitioners who meet the eligibility criteria under the AHPRA guidelines for non-surgical cosmetic procedures. This includes medical doctors, dentists, registered nurses (RNs), and enrolled nurses (ENs) with the required post-registration experience. Proof of current registration with the relevant national board is required as part of the enrolment process.

Can I register if I am at the beginning of my career path?2025-08-14T21:54:39+11:00

Yes. Junior doctors can attend all of our cosmetic injectables training courses. Starting in aesthetics early in your medical career can be a valuable way to build skills and supplement your income. If you are newly qualified and not yet authorised to prescribe, you will need to work with an authorised prescriber, such as a local colleague or a prescriber service, in accordance with AHPRA guidelines and relevant state or territory regulations.

Will I be insured to inject live models during training?2025-08-14T21:56:22+11:00

Yes. During your training, you are covered under Derma Institute’s cosmetic indemnity insurance, allowing you to treat live cosmetic models under the direct supervision of our experienced trainers. Once you have successfully completed the course, you will need to arrange your own cosmetic indemnity insurance before practising independently. We provide all delegates with details of reputable insurers who offer cover for registered health practitioners in aesthetic medicine.

What are the career opportunities for Cosmetic Doctors after training?2025-08-14T21:56:46+11:00

The demand for aesthetic treatments continues to grow, creating strong opportunities for trained cosmetic doctors. Many work in established cosmetic clinics on a full-time or part-time basis, while others open their own aesthetic practices. You can integrate aesthetic medicine alongside your existing healthcare career or transition into it full-time. Our courses include business and marketing guidance to help you establish yourself in the industry, with ongoing advice and support available from our team.
